ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Commerce (Aided) was commenced in the year 1966. B.Com., course in the aided scheme was started since 1972-1973. M.Com. (CA) Course was started in the year 2006-2007 under unaided Scheme. In addition, B.Com (CA) course was started in the unaided scheme since 2008-2009 under Self-Financing Scheme. The rapid growth of the Department of Commerce is reflected in its expansion as well as novelty in its academic programmes. M.Phil., was commenced from 2010-2011. After having fully equipped in all respects, the department was affiliated and approved by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli as Research centre for Ph.D., in Commerce since the year 2018-2019. The department has achieved remarkable academic performance, marched steadily and crossed milestones in achieving academic excellence in the field of Commerce education and research activities.

Mission

"To provide curricula for application of knowledge and offer practical training to students in the field of commerce. To promote domain specific research with social relevance and offer professional development training. To understand the importance of innovation and commonalities among the business incubators and draft a strategy for the effectiveness of the incubator based on the local conditions and environment. To improve the employability by providing activity-based learning and train professionals and entrepreneurs with ethical values.
