About Electronics Department!

Now a days, the whole universe is acting in the field of Elecronics.So our college management has establishes B.sc.., Electronics with an aim to provide a course which finds employment and Self –Employment opportunities for the benefit of rural pupils. In Southern Tamil Nadu, Ours is the first college in Manonmanium Sundaranar University to start B.sc., Electronics Course during the academic year 1996-1997. The department Laboratory is enriched with all the facilities and the latest equipment for the students to do their practicals and their project. The electronics department exposes the pride that students have secured 8 gold medals from the beginning. Our students secure university ranks every year.

Guest lectures and seminars are being arranged by our association”GEA”every year by inviting several eminent industrialists and academicians to develop the students on current innovations in Electronics technology and also conducting workshops for students to develop their practical knowledge in recent Electronics and Communication fields.

To develop technical knowledge of students,the association makes arrangements to visit several industries, as well as Government Organization.To promote team spirit and organizing ability among students,the association arranges educational tour for every year.

Innovation,creativity and knowledge are the traits of our students.They have won a number of amusable prizes in various prizes in various competitions conducted by other colleges and brought name and fame to our department.

A long journey starts with a single step.Our alumnis are working in abroad and in various MNC companies.One of our alumni has started a small scale industry and provides job oppurtunities to our students.They provide financial support to our students those who are poor in economy.

Our Association

A)  INAUGURATION OF ASSOCIATION
    GEA – The Electronics Association was inaugurated on 01/07/2016 by Mr.S.Jebakumar Gomer Rajadurai, Assistant Professor, ECE Department, P.S.R. Rengasamy College of Engineering for Women, Sivakasi. He gave a special lecture on “Recent Trends in Wired and Wireless Networks”. He explained about the data communication through wired and wireless networks i.e... How the communication is done through networks. Finally he concluded about the job opportunities for electronics student.

B)  EXTENSION ACTIVITIES : HANDS ON TRAINING PROGRAM ON BASIC ELECTRONICS:

    Three days (20.07.2016 to 22.07.2016) training program was conducted to create awareness in the field of Electronics among the school students entitled as ‘Hands on training program on Basic Electronics’.

    Presentation presented for the higher secondary school students to understand about “Basic Electronics” effectively.

    The II and III year students trained the school students which is related to Basic Electronic Experiments. Nearly, 200 students from various schools were participated enthusiastically. The training program enhanced the students’ idea about the Electronics field and also enriched their technical skills.

C)  SCIENCE EXHIBITION: FAALIGA’16  LEARN THE TECHNOLOGY

    Electronics students organized a science exhibition titled as “FAALIGA’16 LEARN THE TECHNOLOGY ” for the higher secondary school students from 31.08.2016 to 01.09.2016. Honourable secretary Shri.K.Selvaraj inaugurated the exhibition. Principal Dr.G.Mariappan, Director Prof.G.Venkatasalapathy, Mr.R.Maheshkumar Proprietor of Magnus Medical system and all the staff members visited the exhibition. The students are appreciated for their creativity by the visitors.

    In that exhibition, the GSLV rocket model, Artificial falls & Welcome Robot were exhibited by the students. Students demonstrated more than 30 projects. Specifically, the Fire fighter robot, Tollgate control system, Generation of electricity through speed breaker and PC based document sector, Biomedical Monitoring System are the new invention of our students. More than 800 higher secondary school students from various schools visited the exhibition. Nearly 11 Medias visited and interviewed the students for their new inventions. The exhibition proved the innovative skills of Electronics students.

D)  WORKSHOP ON TELEVISION SERVICING:

    Workshop on “Television Service” was conducted by Mr.G.Rajagopal, Service Engineer Lakshmi Electronics, Kovilpatti on 17/09/2016. The resource persons explained the parts and working of Television. He also explained how to service both Monochrome and Color Television. Students got ideas about Television service.

E)  WORKSHOP ON INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCE OF CCTV:

    Workshop on “Installation & Maintenance of CCTV” was held on 01/10/2016. The workshop was conducted by Mr.V.G.SelvaKannan, Assistant Professor, Department of PG Commerce, G.Venkatasamy Naidu College (SFC). He gave detailed explanation about how to install & maintain of CCTV. The students interacted and clarified their doubts.

F)  SEMINAR:

    Seminar on “Image Processing and its Applications” organized on 27/01/2017. Ms.Subbuthai, Research student in Bharathiyar University addressed about the image processing developments. She gave brief explanation about the image processing and its uses in various fields. Students gathered important points of Image Processing.

G)  INTRA DEPARTMENTAL COMPETITIONS:

    Regarding the Science day celebration, Intra departmental competition was organized on 28/02/2017. All students enthusiastically participated in the various competitions and exhibit their creative skills. Extra talent of our students were identified and appreciated by providing certificates.

H)  INDUSTRIAL VISITS:

  • Industrial exposures have been infused to the students to explore the arena of practical learning. II year, III year Students and four Staff members visited to Liquid Propulsion System Centre (LPSC) ISRO, Mahendragiri on 19/10/16 to know about the functioning of Liquid Propulsion System.
  • II year, III year Students and four Staff members visited the All India Radio, Kodikanal on 17/03/2017. The students gain the Knowledge in the area of Communication. The students also gathered information about the functions of Transmitter & Receiver Units in Radio Station.

  NATIONAL SEMINAR:

    Electronics department has organized an UGC sponsored Two days National level seminar on “Challenges and opportunities in modern electronics” on 17 th & 18 th April, 2017. The National seminar brought together Professors, Researchers and Students to share, discuss and publish the information on “Modern Electronics”. The seminar provided opportunities for collaboration with Beta technologies Pvt., Ltd. Coimbatore for promoting research and developing technologies to the participants.

    In the first day, the programme was started with the best wishes and giving positive vibes for the students by our honorable Secretary Sri.K.Selvaraj, Principal i/c Mrs.K.Adhilakshmi and beloved Director Prof.G.Venkatasalapthi.

    The seminar was inaugurated by Dr.Venkatram Dharuman, Department of Bioelectronics and biosensor from Alagapa University, Karaikudi and also he acts as one of the resource persons by lecturing about “Nano Technology”, Dr.D.Selvathi, Professor ECE department, Mepco Schlek Engineeing College, Sivakasi presented her special lecture on “Embedded systems”.

    In the third technical session Dr.R.Balamurugan, Assistant professor, Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore acted as the resource person. He delivered a lecture on “Robotics”.

    After the Technical sessions, participants from various colleges presented their research papers. Dr.Venkataraman Dharuman, Dr.D.Selvathi and Dr.R.Balamurugan acted as the chairpersons for presentation session.
