DBT 2020-21

The DBT, New Delhi initiated and launched the ‘Star College Scheme’

for improving logical, critical and innovative thinking and to improve and inculcate ‘hands on’ experimental experience with approaches towards technology development needed for biological studies at undergraduate level in life sciences. The support provided under the scheme strengthens physical infrastructure in laboratories, library, teaching aids and promotes networking with neighbouring institutes. Hands on training, product oriented projects and projects of day to day relevance enhance the interest in students to pursue science at undergraduate level in life sciences.

The major objectives of dbt scheme

  • To augment the centralized instrumentation facilities and thereby to encourage students and faculty members for interdisciplinary activities.
  • To improve the skills of teachers by organising faculty training, improved curriculum and emphasis on practical training to students by providing access to specialised infrastructure and consumables
  • To enhance conceptual clarity, development of scientific thinking and creativity among students
  • To visit the various research laboratories and industries of repute for understanding the applied aspects of the science and ongoing research in the emerging field of science
  • To improve the existing practical courses
In 2020, DBT under Star College Scheme has sanctioned a sum of Rs 63 lakhs for three years for strengthening of Life Science and Training at undergraduate level for Botany department of our college .
